Tsarevich and Prince Igor Vladimirovich of Siberia, born in 1966, Head of the House of Genghis Khan, Tsarevichs and Princes of Siberia (the Royal House of Siberia), a direct descendant of the Siberian Khan Kuchum, son of Prince Vladimir Vasilyevich of Siberia.
The Tsarevichs and Princes of Siberia
The Kuchumovichs (also known as the Tsarevichs and Princes of Siberia). The children, grandchildren and nephews of Kuchum, Khan of Siberia, and several of his wives were taken prisoner by Russian troops on 20 August 1598 near the Ob River. They were all sent to Moscow, where they were received with great ceremony in January 1599 by Tsar Boris Godunov.
After Kuchum’s death, his eldest son Ali became Khan of Siberia in 1601, and initially even made peace with Russia, so that Tsar Boris Godunov returned his son Khansyuer and other relatives to him. But then, from 1603, Ali began to make regular raids on Siberian towns and settlements until he was taken prisoner along with all his wives and children. In Russia, he lived permanently in the city of Yaroslavl together with Kuchum’s second son, Altanai, holding no official posts, having retired to a life of seclusion.
In 1686, the Russian tsar issued a decree on the inclusion of the princes of Imereti, the princes of Siberia and the princes of Kasimov in the genealogical registers of the Russian nobility.
Documents reveal the fate of Kuchum’s second son, Prince Altanay, who was taken captive in 1608 and brought to Moscow to Tsar Vasily Shuisky. He had two sons: Dost-Muhammad-Sultan and Ish-Muhammad-Sultan, both born in Russia. Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov spent a long time persuading his father to have the children baptised. In 1653, Kuchum’s grandsons converted to Orthodox Christianity. The Tsar himself was their godfather, and so they were given the patronymic after the Tsar’s name — Alexeevich. Dost-Muhammad was given the name Peter, and Ish-Muhammad was given the name Alexei. Thus, the Tsarevichs Peter and Alexei Alexeevich of Siberia appeared in Russia (as distinct from the Tsarevichs of Kasimov – the descendants of Ali).
